Cultural beacon
Melbourne, 1960s
From the inter-war period onwards and post-war in particular, Spivakovsky was an Australian cultural beacon. A cavalcade of international artists visited him at his stately home in Melbourne, including Artur Schnabel, Bronislaw Huberman, Mischa Elman, Benno Moiseiwitsch, Amelita Galli-Curzi, George Szell, Artur Rubinstein, Ignaz Friedman, Claudio Arrau and William Kapell.
