Spivakovsky taught extensively at both the University of Melbourne Conservatorium and privately in the dauntingly large music room at his stately home in Melbourne. In the words of one student: "My piano lessons were imbued with the richest European tradition. It was like stepping into a magical world where art, music, culture and ideas vibrated in the walls."
