Premiere with Goossens
Sydney, 1951
In the post-war period, Spivakovsky championed new works by Bloch, Britten and Kabalevsky and continued to perform earlier twentieth century works by Reger, Katchaturian, Prokofieff and others. In 1951 he gave the Australian premiere of Ernest Bloch’s monumental Concerto Symphonique with Sir Eugene Aynsley Goossens and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, after learning the work from the composer's manuscript.
