The Blüthner Prize
Berlin, 1910

Still in short pants at the age of thirteen, Spivakovsky outclassed an adult field to win the prestigious Blüthner Prize. In order that his youth should not influence the three famous judges Ossip Gabrilowistch, Leopold Godowsky and Ferrucio Busoni, they were visually screened off for the duration of the competition and could only listen to the performances.
